Liberty Tips and Tricks

Early seeded crops are in full swing for in-crop spraying and it’s been a tricky spray season with the wind and cold nights. Spraying after temperatures of between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius might decrease weed efficacy. After a cold night, it’s recommended to wait 1-3 days before spraying fields with higher weed pressure or hard to kill weeds. Also, it’s important to wait for the daytime temps to be above 10C as the plants need to be actively growing for herbicide to be taken up by the plant effectively.
This week, many growers will start to spray their Liberty Canola.
Here are some things to keep in mind:

The ideal temp range for Liberty spraying is 20-30C
Use at least 10 US gal/ac as coverage is key
As the temp increases over 28C, increase water volume to 15 US gal/ac
To increase weed efficacy on larger or hard to kill weeds, increase Liberty rate to 1.6L/ac
Spray when there is humidity (at least 30%) and it’s sunny (want high UV)
Ideally, your spray day is a day ahead of a hot and sunny forecast.
